So I've written my own web-based hosting program which is much like (and inspired by) AutoHost (using Perl and Apache, and based off my earlier published starstat.pl code and my earlier published movie generating code). Its a full-fledged web site hosting interface much like AutoHost, with a few features that work just how I wanted them to work. Included is the ability to create the games within the site. Is there anyone moderately computer savvy willing to test out my (simple) instructions and see if someone else can get a site running from it?
It's still got a few quirks, but we've now hosted three games off it and I'm more adding features than fixing bugs, so I'm think it's ready for some level of release.
Anyone?

So a collection of answers:
-Not a code problem. The email didn't go out because the new firewall in front of it blocked the outgoing connection to the mail server. It's fixed now! I tagged it to resend the account information for those who had signed up.
-My next code is currently getting my Stars! password reset code working, then I'll get back to TotalHost.
-I 100% intend to make the source available. I actually looked at github the other day, but wasn't a) quite ready to make it a public account, or b) ready to pay for a private account, as I'll be on the road in a couple of weeks for almost 3 months. So I'll likely deal with it when I return. I'm also going to look at some other sources for source control. I'd like something I can limit access to, at least for a while, and am interested in suggestions. I've spent a lot of career time dealing with managing others source control (SVN, CMVC), but I've never really done much of it for my own code, so it will take me a bit to find my feet once I get back.
I also don't know whether I'm a good enough developer to be able to handle others changing the code, so if I work forward in slow steps be patient with me. I"m likely to start just with wanting to understand what features might have interest. But I'm glad to hear there's at least a little interest.
Given that I'm dealing with a REALLY small user base anyway. There'd be some irony in a smaller user base than development one. . .

The Space Empires community has a site called PBW (http://pbw.spaceempires.net) but it's rather outdated, and I'd love it if we could get on something more modern! There's a certain irony in "more modern" here TH itself is only "modern" in the context of Stars! itself.
No, I've never really considered expanding support, but I appreciate the consideration. TH is a labor of love precisely because it's Stars!, and what programming time I have I spent untangling more of the Stars! base code. Perhaps if it was a path to vast riches, but it's more the inverse!
I've managed to do the thing I always wanted - hosting with error detection and correction for many of the Stars! issues. And the host ability to reset passwords, given past frustration of players dropping.
I had hoped there'd be interest in hosting with detection of cheats; there's a lot of code wrapped into reading .x, .h, and .m files. But here's little enough demand for hosting in general in the Stars! community (and little enough of a Stars! community itself for that matter).
