Well done Ron - sounds as if the upgrade was quite a task. However, you had it all back up and running after a few days - a groups of banks in the UK have been having much worse problems following an "upgrade".

However, is it possible to show images directly on the Forum? In the way you can on this forum: http://www.beekeepingforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=15485 The images do not have to be stored on the forum server, a link to Flickr works fine.

The 1st thing I missed was the black look of the forum.. the white and the cherub looked way too unlike stars!
Then I saw the update notice... Looking forward to our space look, before I get used to this pristine futuristic white space station look Smile

Interesting.... quoting works for me, maybe it's only for 'old' posts.

Hey...
An old post regarding your query:

http://starsautohost.org/sahforum2/index.php?t=msg&th=26 8&start=0&rid=370

Maybe the reasons still apply...bandwidth + not sure if size can be specified...

Not sure if one can limit the images shown to only be form other hosts....maybe...can be fudged...

I guess Ron can confirm.

Smile

Yea, I was thinking about staying at 999, but I think 1337 looks nice too Wink.

Btw, how long are the site cookies valid for?
I seem to have to relogin everytime I close my browser, or I come back after 4-5 hours.

Hmm, the session timeout is 1800 seconds, and the cookie timeout is 86400 seconds.

Another query.. I see we can create polls here, but I was unable to see that option in private game sub-forums.
Is that intentional?

Images on the forum? WHAT IS THIS MAD ALCHEMY?
http://i.imgur.com/RLHuh.jpg

Nope, it seems to be broken, image links are converted to url links despite being enclosed in [img] tags.

Do we really have to worry about bandwith anymore? I think most phones can handle image-posting just fine.

It may have something to do with

1) Subdomain cookies? Not sure..I use www.starsautohost.org/ sometimes and starsautohost.org/ sometimes...
2) Browser....I normally use FF but session times out or I lose the session as soon as I close the window....but in IE and Chrome, even if I close it, I can go back to it....maybe it a cache thing....but I have way too much in history at the moment to clear it out.....maybe someone else who can clear their whole cache and history can confirm...
3) Logging in from one browser to another...not sure...

Need to do some more testing...

Anyone else having session time out problems?

86400 sec... that's 24h.
It used to be much longer, didn't it? Which was quite comfortable.
