howdy y'all,
i just finished a game using 2.7 [i've got the manual and cd siting next to me] and can't figure out how to replay a map. i presume one can. [*grin*]
i want to replay that map with a slightly different custom race and a smaller set of ai races. i've got the set of files from the end of the game.
take care,
lee

Open up the "stars players guide" and look for "Creating a Universe from the Command Line" in the help topics.
Follow how to create a game definition file, and use a random seed in that file. Every game you create with that seed/computer combo, should have the same universe.
Well, not quite.
You need to be careful of races that start with 2 planets, as they will change the "randomness" of the universe generation. So, as long as you have the same # of IT's and PP's, and keep them in the same player locations (meaning race #3 and #5 are IT and PP in all universes), you will be fine.
I would pick an arbitrary number like 2 or 3 "slots" to dedicate to 2 planet races, and then you can switch out an AI Cybertron race with your IT race, if you want to play a IT...
Macinti - Alternate Reality
Robotoids - Hyper Expander
Automitrons - Inner Strength
Rototills - Claim Adjuster
Turindrones - Super Stealth
Cybertrons - Packet Physics
Hope that makes sense.

I'm affraid you can't. If you haven't created the map with command line utility and a known random number (the 4th number in a second row), you can't re-create the univere. And even if you'd know the number, would be your new universe different, because you'd use less AIs.
One chance at repeating the game would be, if you'd have the first turn files. Then you could edit your race (you'd need modified Stars! program, that saves nen-encripted files), and disable some AIs (simply lifting all pop and deleting the freighter design, AKA "spacing" them). But IMO that would be too much hassle, compared to simply creating a new game.
And welcome on forums!
BR, Iztok
