new bids.
about comments, whoever wants to give one is free to do. It's just the ebay way, that every former customer of a ebay member can comment about and rate the member and his products.
Though no comments about the service and delivery make sense here, as this approach of MT is new, everybody here knows the quality of his products, so rating and commenting is permitted, though i will not comment further on this.
After game is finished players will of course be reminded to comment and rate the member MT and the quality, price and usefulness of his products, so future customers know whether MT is a reliable, cheap and high quality ebay seller.
Current Time: Mon Mar 19 12:24:48 CET 2007:
Changed bidding process to real Ebay, so real bids are kept, while displayed bids are just incremented by 1 - hope this allows players to check less often how prices changed. Changed bids for AMT,Hush, Alien and Enigma.
Prices improving 103 total.
96 points in total, although still several empty slots, MT is happy - with 96 points he can pay for 8 mines on his HW. With con 30 and 1.1 m people he gets around 700 kt mins per turn. If he can mine as long as game lasts, thats with 70 turns already 49000 kt mins. Maybe this will be more profitable than handing out stuff for 5000 kt each.
Included Mini Morph and Genesis, though they are less important.

@Ptolemy and all other jokers: read the game thread - equipping the genesis device to a hull might require serious modding.

Minimorph might be worth a point, maybe two.
Anyone have a good link to a site with the MT parts, decriptions, tech requirements, and costs?

2000 scrappings at a 0.5% chance gives a 1 in 22586 probability that the player does not get the minimorph hull, so it is unlikely that 2000 regens would be necessary. However, a 0.5% chance does mean that it would probably take too long to scrap enough of them for the player to get the tech.
|
I cover myself in shame, was to lazy to calculate exact expected number of regens. But ln(0.5)/ln(0.995)=138.28 so doing 138 regens gives a 50% chance to get minimorph, that is still too much for a rather unimportatnt MT part.
Comparing the more important enigma pulsar needs 14 scrappings to get a 50% chance, hush-a-boom, alien have 50% chance with 8 tries, the rest 7 parts just need 3-4 scrappings for the 50% chance.
Also the minimorph means 1 additional turn not done by players(sending out turn files, waiting for everyone to send them back and then do regens and send out again is bad for my motivation, i want to do all regens inside 1 or 2 days), as certainly minimorph has to be regenned alone for, because otherwise 2000 regens would be realistic.
And in turn 11 a 20% growth race is around 200000 pop, so they would feel an additional turn of not producing scouts.

You could simply reset pop and mineral levels to 2400 with the zero tech hack ... (build LF, upload pop and minerals, delete the design) and start in for example 2410 as if it was 2400 ...

mazda wrote on Mon, 19 March 2007 09:55 | Can we have clarification about how auction bids are working ?
|
Yes.
mazda wrote on Mon, 19 March 2007 09:55 |
Is the bid value a "bid up to value" or an actual bid ?
e.g. if an item has a largest bid of 20, and then someone bids 50, does the bid go up to 21 (with the possibility of increasing later if needed), or does it go straight to 50 ?
|
Currently the bid will go up to 50 immidiately, but as i named this MT Ebay and it is more convenient for players, i'll switch to the other method now - i anyway keep now note of each bid players make.
And it will the last few days of bidding less complicated and time consuming.
mazda wrote on Mon, 19 March 2007 09:55 |
Also, if two people make the same bid then I assume the earlier dated one will win.
|
Yes, the order in my pm inbox decides, earlier wins.
mazda wrote on Mon, 19 March 2007 09:55 |
lol.
This is EBay you know.
No meaningful bids will be made until nearer the deadline date and time.
|
MT happily presents his bosses optimistic guesses about final prices and how much less minerals the universe will have compared to the ussual method of taking just a few thousand kt per item.
mazda wrote on Mon, 19 March 2007 09:55 |
I think that means it will be important that we know the exact deadline for final bids, and that possibly we need regular updates on the final day.
|
Of course.
There might be a later end of auction, because some family members had the idea this weekend for holiday exactly the week of the week the 12.04 is in.
Best if every player informs me, whether friday 20.4. 15.00 my time(everybody has to calculate that in own time, currently i have 12.36) will be ok for last update of bids and the final deadline for bids would be 9.00 monday 23.4., so everyone can use the weekend and this tool (http://stars.atlantissoftware.co.uk/data/custom/)
to test whether he can afford more or not.

The Multi Function Pod is currently underbid in my opinion.
It gives 30% cloaking, 10% jamming, and a maneuver jet.
The cloaking and the jamming aren't that important, but the jet is a huge benefit, because it's an electrical component, so you can stick a stack of them on battleships. They also help on destroyers, but by the time you can build them, you should have battleships also.
They are also good on beamer nubians because a stack of them gives 2.5 speed, but also gives some jamming and cloaking. And is lighter then a normal jet.
They're fairly low tech (elec 11, en 11, and prop 11) and cheap too.
It's probably not as good as the enigma pulsar, but I'd rate it higher then the Jump gate for example. The Jump gate is nice, but very high tech in a field you don't normally push, and the jump gate doesn't help in battle.

Alien miner looks pretty badly underbid... I suspect this could well prove to be the most valuable of all the MT items, given how a race can be designed to suit it's benefits...
-m races all of a sudden almost make sense.
OBRM AR anyone?

Micha agreed to update bids(and hopefully understand my spreadsheet), while i'm away, so send any new bids also to him.
I'm away from tomorrow for 1 week.
