I'm confused, how do SS go about this. Er rather i know you can, but i was wondering is there any way to have a battle plan where your ship will sit where it is, fight armed ships that come at it, and then disengage?
it seems you have a choice between fighting the starbase and enemy ships or disengaging while the enemy ships fire on you

Another good thing to do with your Robber Baron Rogues is ahve some hanging around with your battle fleets. You hit a planet, blast the station and defending ships then upload all of one mineral - preferably the one that the planet has the lowest concentration in. There won't be any starbase getting buit again very soon this way. When using this strategy, use a Rogue that has a weapon. I usually put a gatling weapon on the rogue for sweeping. This way the rogue can't be hit by the defender having a couple ships set to target unarmed ships first.
Lastly, what you do with enemy planets that you can't live on is turn them into slave mining labor. Don't bomb the hell out of them. Park some missile ships in orbit to kill any orbital that ever gets built and pick up all the mined mienrals each turn. I generally like to bomb them down some to reduce their resource output then make the survivors slave miner. But that's just me because when I play SS I'm just plain mean.
Keep in mind one thing with the robber baron - you cant use the waypoint one zip orders to load on arrival. You CAN set the ship specifically to load iron, boranium and germanium on arrival and it will.

Though we often ask how and why, we must also do to get the answers to the questions.Report message to a moderator
