Hello,
I'm involved in a game running on autohost (thanks for the service, Ron!). In our most recent turn, stars appears to have ignored all of the orders in my .x file - no fleets moved, no new ship designs appeared, research settings didn't change, etc.
As far as I know, nobody else in the game experienced a problem like this. It seems like only my orders didn't take. Note that I didn't get the duplicate serial number error message (though I checked several times ).
I found another thread where Ron mentioned this bug:
Quote: | Just remember that there is an odd bug in JRC3 (unknown if occurs in JRC4) that happens when you do multiple Save & Submit's on the same turn. When the turn gens, your turn is basically ignored. Because of this, I recommend that players who want to change their turn, delete their .x file from their local computer, and replay their turn from scratch.
|
And with that in mind I tried the following:
1. open my turn from the previous year, delete the .x file, save and submit, re-gen the turn
2. delete the .x file, replay the turn from the previous year, save and submit, re-gen the turn
3. delete the .x file, add orders to move a single fleet, save and submit, re-gen the turn
None of these three attempts worked, meaning that in each case the orders weren't followed. I'm kind of at a loss as to what to try next. Any suggestions? I'd really like to continue in this game as I am just entering the satisfying phase of crushing my enemies
Thanks,
Paul

I don't think you mentioned which game it was, so I can't check the log files.
Is your game JRC3 or JRC4? (the game host can ask me to switch from JRC3 to JRC4)
Does anyone else have your turn upload password?
Are you using any kind of Internet caching or 'speed-up' software that be be caching your old .x or .m file?
Regarding numbers 2 and 3 above... due to the way AutoHost cycles through its code, its possible to upload a .x file while the game is generating, thus your .x file will be appear to be uploaded but will be ignored.
If you are the game host, and restored a previous turn from backup using Host Utility, any .x files present in the backup dir will be restored as well. If you then replay your old turn, upload, but not ensure that your new upload overwrote the old one that was restored, it would gen with your old .x file instead of the new one.
