For SAH- 2.6 JRC4 or 2.7J

I recently downloaded stars and it shows 2.70j on spash screen.

I have also downloaded JRC4 from SAH and the version on the spash screen is 2.60j.Isn't this a downgrade?

Which version should i use to play on SAH? Can i just continue using 2.70j??

2.6 and 2.7 are compatible, the difference is that 2.7 has sound (which BTW can cause some errors if for example you are running winamp and want to view a battle recording, Stars! crashes).
2.7j is in fact 2.7jRC3 and while 2.6 is jRC4 those are still compatible (jRC4 has some bug and hack fixes on the host side). AH is using 2.6jRC4 but you can keep using your 2.7jRC3.

One note though: jRC4 has more checks for errors than jRC3 and in one of the games I'm hosting I had an .x file that AH (jRC4) refused to use and labeled as corrupt while it opened fine in the jRC3 which was the version the player was using. We tried to open the .x file in jRC4 (to save+submit with a different version) but we couldn't open the turn and got the error message as well ...
So maybe better to play with jRC4 in the hope that prevents the .x file from getting corrupt and unusable for AH upload ...
This was the first time it happend to me (and the other players) in all the games played, but I've heard about another game having the same problem, ...
