Hi,
change of settings would be ok for me but maybe we need a poll here.

The settings make a huge difference IMO.
Not only that the distance to the center is much smaller than described (and this was an important aspect in my race design), also it is very unfair.
One player has only 2 connections to the center of 3*81 ly and other players have 20. This makes a huge difference, if you can have refuel-docks within a 3-turn jump on green planets, and if one player has only 2 such relations and others have 20 thats a significant disadvantage.
I would not like to play in this universe... [snip] if everyone wants to play in this universe, ok... then I will do as well.

I do agree that there are clusters which are ~50 ly closer to center than others. Not sure how hard it is to generate these maps, each new generation might have new issues, so I'm OK playing as is, but would not object regeneration.
Also if I remember correctly, the distances between players were around 2x the distance to the center cluster, in this map players are much closer, so direct attack is much more probable, which is more fun, I'd like to keep that!

Matt did indeed help me figure out the trick. The over-stretch works, although everyone's fleets will appear at a different location on turn 1. The move planet tool errors after the game is over-stretched, so I will be moving planets then stretching again.
Re: moving planets, gaps, etc. it's a bit more complicated than re-genning the map. For instance, in order to ensure each cluster has 20 planets, I got a generation that was close as could be, then counted the planets in each cluster. When it started, they were as such:
ttl plnts 18 18 20 14 13 19 14 19 18
I then had to scan the galaxy and make sure that habs were not overbalanced, and then I could move planets, one at a time, to their new homes. I took planets from the center that were 3-9 ly apart, and moved them to each cluster until all of them had 20 planets. I found through trial and error that it's vital to save every once in a while and check the results constantly. Because if you move two planets to the same location, the game will allow it. And play will be very weird.
So yes, I'm moving the one planet that does indeed look too close to the center, and then I'll re-stretch it so that the game parameters are met. Each player's cluster will be 300ly +/- 15% from the center. With that, I'll be able to have it ready shortly.
Ever Onward,
Victor.

I Have voted yes, but just had a quick question. Why do we have accbbs ( accelerated start) off?
Also my bad, but I had no idea about the universe problem as I am not actively checking the forums. Only got to know when vm sent new game files.
I know my minefields.. but I'm a chaff sweeper.
I used to curse when I got stuck in traffic... till I realised I AM traffic.

New files are now in place. Player passwords remain the same. All players need to delete their previous polygon.* files as the news ones are for a different game, yet are the same name. You can use the ones I sent on Sunday.
Game Rules:
Non-comm, all others set to enemy. PPS will be on after 2500 once a player owns 35% of planets.
At that point, all active players can vote on a winner every ten years.
Turns:
Once all players are in, I will start the game, allowing it to gen as soon as all turns are in.
After the first 15 years or if I have a request, the game will go to Daily gens at 20:00 GMT.
After 2430, M-W-F as soon as a player requests it.
After 2480, M-Th as soon as a player requests it. Unanimous vote is required for weekly gens.
Every player may request up to two holds, with another hold after 2475.
Final note: I will be monitoring turns to verify rules are followed, and will inform you directly if something is wrong.

As the game now soon starts I wish all again good luck and mainly have a lot of fun.
As there will be mostly nothing to do the first turns I hope we get done some more turns even with all our different time zones.

I feel obliged to point out that AR will have plenty to do.
Realy ? You build colonizer and colonize blind, was your strategy not mine. So how long could it take to build 2 colonizer and colonize a world ....
... don't know why I still answer Magic.

All I meant was that a non-AR would potentially have literally nothing to do for a significant chunk of the 10+ turns until 275k (factory/mine building is automatic, and scouts' routes can be set for many turns). This is not the case for AR, which will have to build ships and colonise, as well as research stuff. Not "plenty" I suppose, but enough that you can't just literally ignore a turn with no penalty. "Takes 5 minutes" is fairly significantly different from "nothing to do" insofar as it requires you to be awake and have access to the Internet and a computer with Stars at some point in the allotted time.
Meh, I'll butt out since it's not my game.

Because it stands nowhere literally. Ludi Magister can you please say : This game is no-comm also for the Mentor. Only to be sure there will be no problems with it in the future.
