They do with the Ultra and Death Star, and with 500000 pop they get about 100 ly penetrating scan and 158 with a million pop, so given their fragility already, I'm tempted to consider it a much needed aid to give them a chance in this game. I think it is fair to give them that little better warning system considering when they loose the orbit they loose the planet. Other races can rely on defences and still have time to rush in some relieve forces.
Their non-pen-scanners are not much more powerful than regular scanners on ships, so that will not be a problem.

You really think that an AR is gonna spend 109 RPs just to get penscanners on their US & DS bases?
Surely you'd save the points & station some super cheap scouts (QJ5, Bat) at key planets. Once you've got enough pop you'd colonise everying anyway.

The game has * LRT forbidden: IFE, ISB, NAS. And AR has no choice, imho.

If you said about chaff attack at starbase that now chaff must be very expensive pleasure. There are no stargates and task to collect chaff with cheap engines will be not such simply as usually. Here Starbases are stronger and AR has advantage already.

My bad, I hadn't realised that NAS was forbidden.

(Ulterior motive alert: It would be interesting to watch the game too, and see how you guys play, given my beginner status)

If you want to check once in a while, fine with me (and thanks), although I think basically it should be based on the honor system not to build some stuff we are not supposed to - oh, and our short term memmory
It is ok with me that you have a glimpse at how I play.
What do the rest of you guys say? (I take no comments as silent acceptance)

(if you want you can have a backup of an entire game of mine to look through, you will likely learn some tricks, but the most valuable: on a grand scale what to do when (research, war, expansion and direction) is hard to learn by just looking through some turns, but feel free to ask for my inside thought - if I remember them!)

It looks like the game hasn't started yet?
Fine with me. I am back again now and ready to play without needing a temp replacement for the start.

Aaaaaah, the game has been setup... fine fine.
A curious question, Per, since it was your initial suggestion and is also the set schedule now:
Why a 26h-rythm instead of the usual 24h?

Is this the same email-address you provided together with your racefile? Upload password should had been sent to that address.
Otherwise it's probably a good idea to email or pm Per therefore he looks up your password.

Scenario: you upload your turn at 1900 with 1 hour left, and then goes to sport or whatever and then stright to bed will be nice. Next day you won't be home until 2100, and that will be 1 hour too late, so you can see that you will have to do that turn either around midnight or in the morning - not so funny and likely a very rushed turn.
It should be 28 hrs to give this kind of a little flexibility, and will over the first 20 turns likely slow the game by 2 days. Using a x-hours rythem gives a little faster game than fixed schedule.
As mentioned somewhere, I will set up Sun-Fri fixed at GMT 0500, i.e. Friday and Saturday evenings are for real life activities.
Is this ok? Comments? Any other wishes?
