I have run Stars! AutoHost since May of 1997 and have helped host hundred of games over the years. During that time, SAH have moved from server to server several times and is hard to do. I am tired. I do not have time for the maintenance that is needed. The server OS is too old, the Apache/PHP/MySQL setup is too old, the forum software is too old, the wiki software is way too old.

There is only one active game being hosted on SAH.

I am over 50 and do not have much free time, and what I have I enjoy spending time with my family and playing other games. I have enjoyed running SAH over the past 27 years, but I'm tired and want to pass on the torch before it goes out.

This is not about money. The Stars! Community has been generous with their support since 2016 when I was not able to continue paying for it on my own. I do not want anymore SAH donations because I hope to let someone else take over before December when the hosting expires and I do not want to be guilt tripped into feeling obligated to keep things going if someone suddenly donates money.

The serial number range for "SAHxxxxx" is almost finished. Of course there are many other serials that can be generated in other ranges. When I turn SAH over to someone else I'll pass on the serial number generator, or I will release it to the public if I have to just shut SAH down.
